Decorative etchings published in Collection des plus Belles Compositions de Le Pautre, Paris, about 1870. Etched by Decloux and Doury. Jean Le Pautre (1618-1682) was the most important ornament engraver of the 17th century, producing over 1500 prints, mainly for use by architects and sculptors. These 19th century copies are well printed on wove paper, with a heavy impression and wide plate mark. Many have an old library stamp on the reverse which does not show through, and a few have slight foxing which will show on the scanned images.
